• 11 a.m. — The Rotary Club of Brandon hosts the annual Burger Day at Princess Park until 2 p.m. The event has been held for more than 15 years and will offer plates for $7 each, or three for $20. Plate tickets can be purchased through any Rotarian or at the gate.

• 5:30 p.m. — The Brandon Naturalists Society is holding an evening walk by woodland and wetland. Walk starts at the south parking lot of the Theatre. For more info, call 728-1414.

• 7 p.m. — Music in the Parks continues with Women in Harmony and special guest This Viral Pearl at Rideau Park. For info, call 724-0163.

• 9:30 a.m. — Indoor Friday Farmers’ Market is held in The Town Centre until 4 p.m.

• Noon — Brandon Humane Society is holding a two-day yard sale at the shelter, 2200 17th St. East. Donations of gently used items are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off any time. For more info, call 728 -1333.

• 7 p.m. — Brandon Pride 2012 kicks off with a retro bowling night at Thunderbird Bowl. Everyone is welcome to dress as a favourite decade or trend for prizes. Tickets are $10 at the Sexuality Education Resource Centre and Smitten Adult Boutique.

• 7 p.m. — Westman Jams presents the Grand Valley Campout featuring informal open mic, songwriter’s corner, a potluck dinner and band scramble. Free admission to the music. For more info, call Wayne 834-2730.

• 8 a.m. — Erikson and District Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a town-wide yard sale running until 2 p.m.

• 9 a.m. — Skate Brandon is holding its first annual indoor garage sale at the Victoria Inn Imperial Ballroom until 3 p.m. For more info or to book a table, call Lorie Miller at 728-9826.

• 9 a.m. — Lady of the Lake is hosting a community flea market in the parking lot. To register a table for $10, call 725-4181.

• 9 a.m. — The 10th annual Cromer Stick Horse Rodeo takes place at Cromer rink and features rodeo themed games and activities. The event is free to the public and runs until 3 p.m. For more info, call 877-3768.

• 9:30 a.m. — Motorcycles and classic cars will hit the streets in Ride for the Breath of Life in support of cystic fibrosis. Registration will run for an hour and a half, with the ride beginning at 11 a.m. in the Sobeys west parking lot. There will be a lunch barbecue. • 10:30 a.m. — The 71 Battery Canadian Artillery Cadets of Brandon will hold its 58th annual ceremonial review at the Keystone Centre. All are welcome. In case of rain, the ceremony will be at the Brandon Armoury, 1116 Victoria Ave.

• 11:30 a.m. — Brandon Pride 2012 rally at Princess Park with a speaker from the Rainbow Resource Centre in Winnipeg until 2:30 p.m.

• 5 p.m. — Natural bodybuilding is coming to the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium with athletes showing off their drug-free bodies. Tickets for the Prairie Classic are $50 and available at the WMCA box office or by calling 728-9510.

• 8 p.m. — People will get a chance to indulge at Bourbon and Blues at the Asessippi Powder Keg Room. Rob Waddell will perform and several varieties of bourbon will be available. Tickets are $10, must be 18 years of age or older.

• 9 p.m. — Parkland Mixers will hold its anniversary dance for separated, divorced, widowed and single by choice members of the community at Watson Art Centre, Dauphin. • 9 a.m. — Carberry Collegiate is holding a Father’s Day fundraising brunch for their 2013 trip to Quebec at the community hall. Tickets are $6 per person, $3 for kids 10 and under.

• 10 a.m. — The third annual Father’s Day car show at the Beach Hut in Killarney will start early with registration. All those who register receive a certificate for a free burger and fries during the event. The show runs from noon to 4 p.m.

• 10 a.m. — Mud racers get ready for the Mud Bog in Austin. Arrive early for registration, the race starts at 1 p.m. Admission is $10, kids 12 and under $5. For more info or to volunteer, call 637-2354.

• 10:30 a.m. — Oak River Fire Department is holding a Father’s Day brunch at the Oak River Rink until 12:30 p.m. Adults $8, kids 12 and under $5.

• Lady of the Lake pub — The weekend starts this evening when salsa dance with Bridget takes the floor from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Enjoy the $5 Taco bar on Friday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. followed by the folk sounds of This Viral Pearl at 8 p.m. On Saturday, listen to local folk group Cinderfellas at 8 p.m.

• Houstons Niteclub — Every night this weekend, starting today, is the Houstons Street Hockey Rumble. Coors Light beer gardens will be open Thursday and Friday 6-11 p.m. and Saturday at noon. Win your chance to shoot for $1,000 at the championship game. Also check out DJ FINS in the beer gardens and again in the club. • Georgie’s Patio (Keystone Motor Inn) — Scheduled to appear Friday is Nuthin but Trouble at 8 p.m.

• Double Decker Tavern — Badlands take the stage Saturday at 9 p.m. Upcoming: on June 23 the Decker will host a homecoming gig for Take with Audio at 8 p.m.

At the galleries

• The Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba — Three exhibitions are opening with a reception June 21 at 7:30 p.m. The main gallery will host “Visual Adaptations” by Brandon-based painter Fay Jelly, and “Blurry Canada” by Regina-based Risa Horowitz. In the Community Gallery is Janet Shaw-Russell’s exhibition “An Untenable Belief in Permanence.” The new gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Thursday until 9 p.m. For more info, visit agsm.ca.

• The Royal Canadian Artillery Museum at CFB Shilo — Will host two more Museum of Civilization exhibits June 21-Sept. 21 as part of its 50th year celebrations. The “Tunit” and “Places of Power” open on Aboriginal Awareness Day, June 21. They are about the people and the culture of the Arctic. The museum is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., seven days a week. • The Daly House Museum — Daly House’s latest exhibit called, “Behind Closed Doors,” takes a look at late Victorian private life. This exhibit features artifacts and information about what Victorians thought about romance, personal hygiene, undergarments, medication and cosmetics. • 26th Field Regiment RCA/XII Manitoba Dragoons Museum — Come see our “on loan” Order of Canada medal as well as many other military artifacts at the Brandon Armoury. Open on Tuesdays 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

• The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum — The museum is having a Vintage Air Event on June 21 with displays, live music, and flight demonstrations. The event starts at 4 p.m., hotdogs and drinks wil be sold. Summer hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week until end of September.

• The Arts West Travelling Gallery — The 2011-12 travelling gallery exhibit is now hanging in the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium while the 2012-13 travelling gallery will be moving to the Rapid City Library on July 7.

• The Brandon General Museum and Archives — Located on the ground floor of the old Manitoba Telephone building at 19 Ninth St. Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. Admission free. • June 21 — A fundraising barbecue will be held for the cancer care patient home Murray House at the 1129 Queens Avenue parking lot from 11:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. Hotdog, salad and drink are altogether $10. Please bring a lawn chair.

• June 23 — Big Brothers and Big Sisters hosts SK84KIDZ, a fundraising skate-a-thon at Kristopher Campbell Memorial Plaza at 12 p.m. Open to skateboarders, in-line skaters and BMX bikers. It will feature live bands at 4 p.m. For pledge forms, call 727-1787.
