Trial pushed back for Manitoba Liberal charged with violating elections law

The legal troubles dogging the executive director of the provincial Liberal Party will follow him a little bit longer.

The expected trial this morning for Dennis Trochim, who is facing eight charges under the province’s Elections Act, was pushed back to April 4.

Trochim has been charged with five counts of knowingly providing false or misleading information and three counts of making a false or misleading statement to the elections commissioner in the 2011 election campaign.

Trochim has declined interviews about the charges but did release a printed statement stating that he filed incorrect paper work for a rural campaign where he was the official agent.

Trochim blamed the errors on distractions caused by personal family concerns surrounding the terminal illness and death of his father.
