A five-figure donation to Brandon University from regional auto dealers will support a new scholarship-bursary for aboriginal students.
The Prairie Ford Dealers Association, which represents 51 dealers from Manitoba and Saskatchewan, has donated $50,000 to BU's ongoing "Build" campaign, which is trying to raise $10 million to provide programs to recruit and retain Aboriginal students.
"The financial contribution provided today will provide immediate assistance and directly contribute to the success of Brandon University students and the Brandon community as a whole," said John Kelleher from Kelleher Ford Sales.
The scholarship-bursary provided with this donation will be awarded to Aboriginal students enrolled in 18 credit hours with financial need and academic merit.
"Our goal is to provide the highest quality of education and accessibility for all our students," said Dr. Deborah Poff, President and Vice Chancellor of Brandon University. "This generous donation will create more opportunities for Aboriginal students, allowing them to realize their full potential as community leaders and create a continued investment in our community."
