A few more flurries — and then the cold snap

Better shovel your walk while the snow is fresh — it's about to get cold.

Environment Canada is calling for a chance of a few more flurries today and tomorrow, despite Brandon getting less than half of what was feared yesterday.

Official records show that there was 4.6 cm of snow yesterday. There were predictions of upwards of 10 cm.

There's a 30 per cent chance of flurries today and tonight, although accumulations will be slight.

Temperatures are expected to be steady near -14ºC today, with a bit of wind from the northeast at 30 km/h. That'll take the wind chill down to -25 this afternoon.

Clouds will continue overnight, with a low of -18ºC.

Skies should begin to clear Wednesday around noon, with a bit of a northerly breeze and a chance of tomorrow evening, after a daytime high of -16ºC.

Sun is in the forecast for the rest of the week and over the weekend, but there won't be much warmth in it.

The Thursday forecast calls for sun and a high of -18ºC, followed by sun on Friday and a high of -21ºC.

Saturday and Sunday should both be sunny as well, with daytime highs of -23ºC to -25ºC and overnight lows nearing -30ºC.

At this point, the Monday forecast predicts another cold day, with a high of -20ºC.

The coldest it's ever been on this date was in 1964, when it was -32.8ºC. The warmest ever was in 1941, when it was 8.3ºC.

The normal high for this time of year is -7ºC; the normal low is -16ºC.
