Alcohol a factor in fatal crash
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a fatal rollover crash early Sunday morning southeast of Brandon.
It was the latest of several serious vehicle collisions this weekend in rural Westman, but the only so far that cost a life.
Shortly after 3 a.m., Central Plains RCMP and local area EMS were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 342, one mile south of the Cypress River in the RM of Victoria.
Police said their initial investigation showed the 22-year-old male driver of the vehicle lost control on the gravel road and rolled.
He was transported to Glenboro Hospital and then taken by STARS air ambulance to Winnipeg with serious injuries.
A 22-year-old female passenger from Cypress River was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 46-year-old female was transported to Brandon Regional Health Centre with serious injuries.
A 21-year-old male and 25-year-old female were both transported to Glenboro Hospital and received treatment for their injuries.
The RCMP Criminal Crash Investigation Team with local detachment members continue to investigate.
A RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst attended the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
