Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION

Another cold day, more possible flurries

Oh, the weather outside is frightful. But by Monday it should be delightful.

Environment Canada is calling for a high of -20ºC today, with westerly winds at 20 km/h pushing the wind chill to -36. A few flurries this morning should end as skies clear by noon.

Clear skies tonight will send the temperature down to a low of -29ºC, with an extreme wind chill of -41.

Tomorrow should be sunny for much of the day until mid-afternoon, when skies should see a mix of sun and cloud. There's a 60 per cent chance of flurries late in the afternoon, and winds should pick up to about 15 km/h. Tomorrow's high should be again -20ºC.

Thursday should be sunny, with a high of -17ºC, but temperatures will head back down before they improve any more.

Friday will be cloudy, with a 60 per cent chance of flurries, and a high of -22ºC.

Saturday will see periods of snow under cloudy skies, with a high of -23ºC.

Sun returns for Sunday, with a high of -16ºC. And the forecast at this point predicts a high of -6ºC on Monday.

The coldest it's ever been on this date was in 1948, when it dropped to -36.7ºC. The warmest ever was in 1974, when it got to 4.4ºC.

The normal high for this time of year is -9ºC. The normal low is -18ºC.
