Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far, and today won't be far behind.
But yesterday's clear skies will cloud over by late morning today, and there's a good chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon from all that heat and humidity.
Environment Canada recorded an official high yesterday of 30.4ºC at around 5 p.m. That's the first time Brandon has seen temperatures above 30ºC so far in 2014. The previous high temperature this year was 29.7ºC on July 5, and the last time Brandon hit the 30s was Sept. 6 last year.
Today should top 30ºC as well, around 4 p.m., forecasters say, although cloudy skies will bring a 60 per cent chance of storms through the afternoon and evening.
Skies should clear near midnight, with an overnight low of 15ºC.
Tomorrow will be mainly cloudy, with a high of 26ºC and an easterly wind at 30 km/h through much of the day.
Sunday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high again of 26ºC. Monday will be cloudy, with a high of 25ºC and a 40 per cent chance of more showers.
Tuesday, sun wil break through some of the cloud, with a high of 24ºC. Wednesday is predicted to be sunny with a high of 27ºC and then Thursday will see a mix of sun and cloud, with a high of 24ºc.
The normal high for this time of year is 24ºC; the normal low is 11ºC.
The hottest it's ever been on an Aug. 15 was in 2003, when it hit 34.8ºC. The coldest ever was in 1979, when it was 2ºC.
