Another case of indecent exposure reported

Police say that a 25-year-old man is accused of exposing himself on a public path in Spruce Woods Provincial Park.

Officers from the Blue Hills RCMP in Carberry were called to the campsite on Saturday at about 12:20 p.m. A 12-year-old girl said that she had seen a man exposing himself on a path near the main washroom and shower area in the park.

A suspect was arrested Sunday in Carberry, where he was temporarily residing.

He has since been charged with exposure to a person under the age of 16, as well as breach of recognizanve. He's being held in custody and is to appear in Brandon court today.

Police say they aren't releasing the name of the 25-year-old suspect due to safety concerns.

Carberry RCMP have previously warned the public about pursuing vigilante action, which was apparently planned after an earlier report involving a young girl, which later turned out to be false.

There have been a string of incidents involving indecent exposure and lewd acts in Brandon and Westman, dating back to early 2012. At least three people have been charged in relation to various of the incidents.

If anyone has more information on the Spruce Woods matter or if they saw suspicious activity in the area, they are asked to call the RCMP Blue Hills Carberry office at 204-834-2905. To remain anonymous, they can also contact Crime Stoppers.
