For the second time in as many months, the "sold out" sign has been posted at the Souris and Glenwood Memorial Complex in Souris.
The community of 2,400 hosted its first arena concert last month with Doc Walker playing to a capacity crowd of 1,000. Thursday morning, officials announced they've also sold out Aaron Pritchett, a full month before the show date.
"We are elated by this success," said Vern May, the Souris economic development officer. "A lot of the work that has been done by the community development board this year had focused on re-defining what is possible. I think that successes like this with live entertainment have people taking a look at Souris with a renewed interest."
Pritchett and opening act Desiree Dorion kick off a full weekend of festivities for Souris as they celebrate the formal grand re-opening of the town's famed swinging bridge from June 27-30. Town-wide activities, nightly live entertainment and a celebration of the community as a whole are also planned.
