Police made a quick arrest this week after someone fired a gun at a crop dusting plane.
The shooting was reported Wednesday, while the plane was dusting crops on a field near Fortier, about halfway between Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg.
The plane was hit, causing damage to the side and bottom of the aircraft, but no injuries were reported in this incident.
Mounties from the Portage la Prairie detachment investigated, and obtaine a search warrant for a home and outbuildings at a property in a rural area near there. That searched turned up a gun and ammunition.
Luc Arnal, 51, of the RM of Portage la Prairie, has been charged with discharging a firearm, mischief over $5,000, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and endangering an aircraft. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Winnipeg on July 11.
Police continue to investigate.
