Beaten across the head with one or more wine bottles, a man lay unconcious for hours before he awoke and was able to call for help.
Those chilling details of an assault that left blood sprayed around Massey Manor were released this morning by Brandon police.
They say a 36-year-old Brandon woman is now in custody, and will face charges of assault with a weapon and aggravated assault. She is to appear in court this morning.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with head injuries, where he was reported to be in serious but not life-threatening condition.
A neighbour of the victim shared her experiences with the Sun yesterday.
"I came out of the door and all I could smell was blood," she said. "It was covered, there was blood all over the floor, all over the walls, going up the walls, all over his door."
The assault apparently happened sometime overnight. She says she awoke to screaming and, after checking on her son, surmised that it had been a dream.
It wasn't until the next morning that she saw the aftermath of the assault.
"I feel really bad because you don’t think to check the hall," she said.
Police say they were called at around 3 a.m. Thursday to the assault, but haven't said when they believe the assault happened, or how many hours the victim may have lain unconcious.
