Bail for man accused in Minnedosa death

A man accused of impaired driving causing death has been granted bail, and will live in Calgary pending his trial.

Christopher Palaschuk, 39, appeared in court this morning, where the crown attorney consented to his being released on bail.

The charges stem from a deadly crash earlier this month near the site of Rockin' the Fields of Minnedosa. A vehicle headed south on Provincial Road 262, commonly called the beach road, hit two people around 3 a.m. on one of the nights of the music festival. It then kept going and hit a third person.

Twenty-five-year-old Shawn Cooper, of Minnedosa, died in hospital after the crash. The two other people were injured.

While on bail, Palaschuk is to live in Calgary. He has another date in court in Minnedosa next month.
