Brandon will not be the host of the 2017 Canada Summer Games. Instead, it will possibly be hosted by the City of Winnipeg.
Mayor Shari Decter Hirst made the announcement Thursday afternoon.
The bid committee received official word from the Province of Manitoba that the Canada Games Council has rejected its bid.
"It is distinctly disappointing to learn that the Canada Games Council has decided it will not work with Brandon on the 2017 games," said bid chair Jeff Cristall.
