Brandon man charged with Regina arson

A Brandon man arrested yesterday morning in Sioux Valley faces arson charges in Regina.

Roland Wendall Chase Bell, 25, is accused of setting a house fire at 900 Robinson St. in Regina. He was arrested by Dakota Ojibway Police Service officers Thursday at about 11:30 a.m. in Sioux Valley.

Regina police say the house fire was one of a trio of nearby fires that all took place within a couple of blocks of each other in final week of February.

Although they originally investigated them as connected, they now say there's no evidence to link them together. Bell has been charged with arson in relation to one of them. A second is believed now to be non-criminal. And police say that the third is probably due to a break-and-enter, but their investigation is still ongoing.

Bell was to be remanded in custody in Brandon, until arrangements are made for him to be transferred to provincial court in Regina.
