Brandon woman scratches off $25K win

Doreen Diment of Brandon won $25,000 on a scratch-off ticket.

Doreen Diment has played "The Western" scratch-off lotto tickets for several years, but she admits that she wasn’t really expecting to uncover a big win.

So the Brandon resident was shocked when she did uncover a top prize win on the one-dollar instant lottery game and suddenly found herself $25,000 richer.

"I’ve been buying The Western tickets about once a week for the last seven years," Diment says. "I bought this one and scratched it while I waited for the bus back home."

When she realized that the ticket she had just scratched was a $25,000 winner, "I screamed," she says. "I had tears running down my face, and I think the clerk was just as happy as I was."

"I never really thought I’d win anything," she continued, "but now that I have, I’m going to buy myself some brand-new furniture. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this."

Diment bought her winning ticket from the Transit Information Centre, in downtown Brandon.
