Emergency crews work at a two-vehicle collision on Highway 10 approximately 15 kilometres south of Brandon, Tuesday afternoon. One person was killed and another hurt in the crash.

A 69-year-old Carberry man is dead after a head-on crash just south of Brandon on Tuesday afternoon.

Blue Hills RCMP say the man was driving north on Highway 10 at about 1 p.m., and was about 12 km south of the city when the crash happened. They say it looks like the car he was driving drifted across the centre line and smashed into a southbound SUV.

The driver of the SUV, an 87-year-old woman from Hartney, was also taken to hospital, where she is in stable condition.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the collision and police say it appears both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
