On Aug. 4, a cheque book was stolen from an apartment in the 900-block of Second Street.
Several of the cheques were later forged and cashed for a total of $1,375, police said in a release Thursday.
The suspect, a 29-year-old man from Portage la Prairie surrendered Wednesday night.
He was released on charges of utter forged document, and fraud of less than $5,000.
He will appear in court on Dec. 17.
