Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION

City extends hours for skating and sledding

The lights will be on until 1 a.m. for any Brandonites who want to brave the cold and ring in the New Year outdoors.

The city will keep both the Hanbury Hill toboggan area and the Waterfall of Lights skating oval open past midnight tomorrow, Dec. 31.

Although both are open to the public, they are unsupervised.

Meanwhile, the city also says that the upper portion of the cross-country ski trail system at the Rec Centre has been packed and groomed and is now ready for use. The lower portion of the trail is still being prepped and is not yet open.

The Sportsplex will be open on New Year’s Day, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Also, New Year's revellers should remember that they can take the bus tomorrow night — for free. From 6 p.m. to 3 a.m., Brandon Transit buses will be running every hour.
