City to review west-end paving

Residents in Brandon's west end are reportedly unhappy with chip-sealing maintenance on their roads from last summer, and the city has promised to look into it.

Coun. Murray Blight, who represents the far-west end Victoria ward in Brandon, said at last week's city council meeting that his constituents weren't pleased with the chip sealing program that had been done last year and asked if there was to be a review.

Patrick Pulak, the city's engineering director, said in a response posted to the city's website this week that the chip seal has a one-year warranty, and pledged to examine the area in the near future.

Chip sealing is a process that mixes a thin layer of hot asphalt with gravel to economically extend the useful life of a road.

Traveling into Brandon from Virden, we usually come through the Kemnay , 1A route. Only to be challenged and confronted with the many pot holes on Victoria Ave, This is a disaster.! You can't miss them all, and it's dangerous to try and avoid them by swerving. Also very crippling to the steering mechanism and tires of vehicles. Beware Drivers….USE at YOUR OWN RISK…..and Expense.!

I'm pretty sure everybody in Brandon is unhappy with the job the city is doing on the streeets! Any patching they do has to be redone immediately! Three years in a row they have patched potholes on my street and guess what, they are back! Doesnt seem to matter which season. Winter they cant plow them, summer they cant fix em!
