Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION
Cold and getting colder
It's cold this morning, but if you can hang on through a couple of days, the weekend promises to be better.
Environment Canada says that this morning's temperature wil fall to -23 C and stay there all day, along with light snow off and on until mid-afternoon. Stiff winds at 30 km/h — gusting to 50 km/h — will lighten a little bit when the snow dies down, but wind chills in the range of -36 are possible.
Partly cloudy skies and a chance of flurries are in the forecast for overnight, with a low of -28 C.
Tomorrow will be cold again, with a high of -23 C and wind over the noon hour. But skies should clear overnight. That will drop the temperature down to a bone-chilling -35 C before swinging up to -19 C on Friday.
Saturday will be markedly nicer, with a forecast high of -1 C for a full day of Lieutenant Governor's Winter Festival action.
Temperatures should stay mild on Sunday, with a predicted high that day of -6 C, and things will cool off slightly for the start of next week with highs around -10 C for Monday and Tuesday.
The normal high for this time of year is -10 C, the normal low is -21 C.
