Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION

Cold front moving through, heat coming soon

It was cold yesterday, and it won't be much better today, but the forecast holds some heat in it.

Environment Canada says that Brandon's high temperature yesterday was just 18.5ºC — closer to the normal low than to the normal high.

Today will at least poke about 20. Today's forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud and ahigh of 21ºC, with 30 km/h winds from the north finally lightening up by early this afternoon. The UV Index will hit 7, which is considered high.

A few clouds linger tonight, as temperatures get to a low of 9ºC, but a warming trend returns tomorrow.

Tomorrow should be sunny, with a high of 24ºC, followed by more sun on Wednesday and a high of 26ºC.

And the ice cream sales spike after that — Thursday and Friday will see sun and a high of 30ºC, followed by a scorcher of a weekend, with just a few clouds on Saturday and a high of 28ºC then 30ºC again on Sunday with plenty of sun.

The normal high for this time of year is 26ºC. The normal low is 13ºC.

The hottest it's ever been on a July 14 was in 1975, when it got to 33.9ºC. The coldest ever was in 1967, when it dropped to 4.4ºC.
