Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION

Cool morning, but what a Saturday!

Don't waste any time enjoying Saturday, because it won't last.

Despite a touch of frost last night (hope you covered those final few tomatoes) and a cool morning today, the forecast calls for a temperature spike today and tomorrow — perhaps one final hit of summer heat before fall truly sets in.

Environment Canada says today will be sunny and have an afternoon high of 21 C. Warm, perhaps, but not stunningly so.

Then, after an overnight low of 6 C, tomorrow will see more sun and a high of 27 C.

Sadly, that's not a record — in 2009, Brandon managed 29.3 C — and a bit of wind will make it feel a touch cooler, but it's still the best afternoon we're likely to get for six months or more.

Sunday will be cooler. A lot cooler. A mix of sun and cloud will close out the weekend, with a high of just 16 C.

Monday could see some showers, with a high of 12 C, before a bit of a rebound to 20 C on Tuesday.

Temperatures return to the teens for Wednesday and Thursday.

The normal high for this time of year is 18 C; the normal low is 6 C.
