A 24-year-old Toronto man is dead after he was hit by an SUV while cycling west of Brandon on Monday evening.

Police were called to the collision scene along Highway 1A, west of 50th Street near Mulligan's Driving Range, shorty after 8 p.m. on Monday.

The cyclist was headed east when he was hit by an SUV travelling the same direction. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The 28-year-old Sioux Valley woman who was driving the SUV, and her three passengers, were unhurt.

Police say it remains unclear if the cyclist was wearing a helmet. They say they don't think alcohol was a factor in the crash.
