Dauphin man dead after Riding Mountain rollover

Police say excessive speed, alcohol and a lack of seat belts contributed to a rollover last night that killed a Dauphin man.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the rollover, about 25 km south of Dauphin on Highway 10, in Riding Mountain National Park.

Two other male passengers and the 17-year-old driver of the car were also injured, and were treated at the Dauphin hospital, but their injuries were described as not life-threatening.

The car was headed north on the highway when it apparently ran off the road and rolled in the ditch, police say, sometime shortly before 9 p.m. Monday.

The Parkland RCMP Detachment continues to investigate the crash with the assistance of the RCMP Criminal Crash Investigation Team and the RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstruction Unit.
