Get ready for some rain — but don't expect it to cool anything down.

Environment Canada is calling for a mainly cloudy day today, with a 70 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms late this morning and into this afternoon.

Moderate winds from the south, at about 20 km/h, are also expected, as the mercury will climb to 31 C, just a couple of degrees shy of a 1949 record.

Skies will clear this evening, as the wind shifts to the west, then fades overnight and temperatures will drop to a low of 16 C.

Tomorrow wil be another hot day, with highs around 30 C, under a mix of sun and cloud. Winds, however, will pick up again late in the afternoon.

More clouds are expected Wednesday, with a high of 28 C, although sunny skies should return for Thursday, Friday and into next weekend. Highs for the latter half of the week are all expected to be around 30 C.

The normal high for this time of year is 24 C, the normal low is 12 C.
