Investigators who were looking into a serious assault Thursday morning made two unrelated arrests.
While police were knocking at the door of an apartment in the 300-block of Sixth Street, two small baggies of cocaine were apparently tossed from the apartment window.
Two men inside the apartment were arrested, and police say they later discovered that one of them had given a false name.
Both of them are to appear in court on Jan. 9. A 27-year-old Brandon man will face charges of possession of cocaine and public mischief. A 23-year-old Brandon man will be charged with possession of cocaine.
