Doesn't end well for man who punches cop in Brandon

A man has been charged after he allegedly vandalized Brandon University property and took a swing at a police officer while being arrested.

Early Saturday morning, Brandon Police Service were called to the university after a campus security guard reported an unwanted person on the premises. As police arrived, a 22-year-old man kicked and damaged one of the university’s signs. As police took steps to arrest the man, he took a swing at a police officer, hitting him in the chin.

The officer wasn’t injured in the scuffle and police have charged the suspect with mischief, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 20.
