Driver arrested after traffic cut off

It took a couple of blocks, but police say they managed to pull over and arrest an impaired driver after seeing him cut off traffic in an intersection.

According to police, it was around midnight last night when they saw a vehicle go through the intersection at 18th Street and Brandon Avenue — forcing oncoming traffic to take evasive action or order to avoid a crash.

Officers pulled over the vehicle a few blocks away, in the 1600-block of Park Avenue, and say the driver failed a roadside breath test.

Later tests also showed readings that were over the legal limit.

A 29-year-old Brandon man will appear in court on Aug. 23 to face charges of impaired driving, drive over .08, drive without driver’s liability insurance and drive while disqualified.
