A driver's forthrightness didn't help him any when police ran him through a checkstop.
The 18-year-old Brandon man was driving just the second vehicle through the checkstop, at about 2 a.m. on Monday morning, and he admitted to having had several drinks earlier. When he then failed a roadside screening device, he was taken back to the police station for breath testing; those revealed a blood-alcohol level of nearly double the legal limit.
He was jailed for the rest of the night, to be released later Monday, with a court date of Aug. 18.
