Driver charged in Kenora bypass crash caught on video

A driver from La Broquerie is facing additional charges in northwestern Ontario following a scary highway crash on March 1 that was caught on tape.

Ontario Provincial Police have charged Christopher Lord, 36, with driving a motor vehicle while using a hand-held communication device after video taken from a dashboard camera on one of the vehicles was shown to investigators.

The man was earlier charged with failing to yield to traffic at an intersection.

The collision occurred west of Kenora on Highway 17 and 17A.

The video shows a pickup truck, pulling a large trailer, turning onto the highway and into the path of another vehicle, driven by a man from Sioux Lookout, Ont., whose wife was also in the vehicle. They had to be treated in Kenora for non life-threatening injuries.

Lord was also treated at the scene for minor injuries.
