Driver in a 'hole' lot of trouble

An impaired driver steered around concrete construction barriers and drove his vehicle straight into a hole, police allege.

Officers were called to the Brandon Eastern Access at Victoria Avenue East just before 1:30 a.m. this morning, where they found the single-vehicle crash.

Construction at the intersection includes the installation of a sewer line, and police say that the vehicle ended up in one of those holes.

They say the driver appeared to have been drinking, and he failed a roadside screening test. He later also supplied breath samples that showed an alcohol content over the legal limit.

A 27-year-old Shilo man is to appear in court on July 30, on a charge of impaired driving.
