Police searched a home in Sandy Bay and a business in Amaranth early Friday morning, in a raid that was looking for drugs.
Armed with a warrant, officers from the Amaranth RCMP searched the Sandy Bay home just before 5 a.m. on Friday. A secondary warrant was executed at an Amaranth business. Officers from the Portage la Prairie RCMP and the Sandy Bay DOPS assisted with the search.
In the home, they found and seized about 14 grams of cocaine and a sum of cash, along with paraphernalia that police say is consistent with that used for drug trafficking. A cell phone was seized from the business.
Seven people from Sandy Bay First Nation now face charges related to the raids. Six have been charged with possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and have been relseased from custody with a court date of June 17.
The seventh was held in custody over the weekend, to appear in court on Tuesday.
Police say they continue to investigate.
