A man police say was drunk and disruptive as a passenger in a traffic stop ended up in jail when he just wouldn't quit.
Officers pulled over a vehicle in the 200-block of 18th Street at about 12:30 p.m. on Thursday when they spotted that its license plates were inactive.
A man who was a passenger in the vehicle was intoxicated, they say, and became verbally abusive, disruptive and confrontational with police as they checked into the plate problem. Despite a warning, he kept up his disruption, and officers arrested him. He resisted efforts to handcuff him, they say, but was eventually taken to the drunk tank.
After his arrest, a search of the suspect found that he had a small amount of marijuana on him.
A 45-year-old Brandon man is to appear in court on Jan. 16, on charges of obstructing and resisting a peace officer and possession of marijuana.
