Police say a drunk teenager who was an unwelcome guest in a home was also a suspect in a previous assault.

The 18-year-old man was reported to be intoxicated and unwanted in a home in the 500-block of 12th Street early Wednesday afternoon. When police got to the scene, they recognized him as a suspect in a previous complained from the 400-block of Seventh Street, in which someone assaulted two people and broke a phone before taking off.

Neither of the victims was badly hurt, and neither needed medical attention.

However, police say the 18-year-old Sioux Valley resident also turned out to be out on probation — which he was violating.

He was jailed overnight to be released the next morning, with charges of mischief, assault and breach of probation and a court date of Sept. 4.
