A woman who missed a curve and steered a stolen car into a ditch Monday evening was also drunk, police say — possibly on stolen liquor.

Police were called to 34th Street and Pacific Avenue at about 10:10 p.m. that night, where the crash had just been reported.

They say the crossover-style car that had been driven into the ditch turned out to be a 2004 Ford Freestyle that had been reported stolen from the Redwood Inn on Saturday. The woman who had been driving it showed signs of impairment and was arrested. Breath samples later showed she had a blood-alcohol level of nearly double the legal limit.

It also turns out that she was recognized as a suspect in a recent liquor theft from a Liquor Mart, too.

A 24-year-old Brandon woman was held in jail overnight, to be released sometime Tuesday. Police say she'll face a number of charges.
