A Brandon teen who had his elbow smashed by a piece of lumber during a fight over drugs has been released from hospital, police say, and a slightly younger teenager who's accused of assaulting him has been arrested.

The assault happened in the early evening of Friday the 13th, when the two met up in the 700-block of 12th Street to smoke marijuana.

Then, one teen apparently swung a two-by-four piece of lumber at the other one — shattering his elbow.

The victim tried to run, but was chased down by his assailant, who choked him, stole his marijuana and demanded money. He managed to get free and get to the hospital, where his broken elbow was set. He's since been released.

Police say they were able to arrest a suspect on Sunday. The 17-year-old was jailed overnight, to appear in court on Monday morning.
