Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION

Enjoy today — rain and wind (and snow?) coming soon

Brandon will get a gorgeous day to celebrate Earth Day today — and you best enjoy it today, because tomorrow is a different story.

Environment Canada says that today will be sunny all day long, with a high of 15ºC and a UV Index that will reach 6, which is considered high.

But increasing cloudiness comes this evening and overnight, as temperatures head down to a low of 4ºC.

Rain will begin early tomorrow morning, and it'll come down all day tomorrow. Things will be windy, too, with an easterly wind at 30 km/h swinging to the southeast at 50 km/h early in the afternoon, including gusts up to 70 km/h. The high will be 9ºC.

Winds will calm down a little bit late in the evening, but clouds will continue tomorrow night and for a few more days, as will single-digit afternoon highs.

Thursday will be cloudy with intermittent showers and a high of 7ºC.

Friday will be even cooler, with a high of 4ºC and snow.

Sun on Saturday will be a bit of a bright spot, with a high of 5ºC, but clouds return on Sunday. The Sunday high will be 8ºC.

At this point, the Monday forecast calls for 9ºC, with a 60 per cent chance of showers.

The normal high for this time of year is 14ºC; the normal low is 1ºC.

The warmest it's ever been on this date was in 1990, when it was 28.3ºC. The coldest ever was in 1967, when it dropped to -8.9ºC. That year, there was still 10 cm of snow on the ground, also a record.
