Erratic highway driver to face charges

A dangerous driver who sparked at least two calls from the public made it from Saskatchewan nearly all the way to Brandon before police caught up to him and pulled him over. A Winnipeg man now faces charges.

The driver was first reported at about 8 p.m. yesterday, when RCMP got a tip about an erratic driver headed east on the Trans-Canada Highway at Moosomin. About a half-hour later, they got another tip about the same car,  a black 2011 Hyundai Sonata with Saskatchewan plates, reporting that it was driving faster than 130 km/h and was driving in a dangerous manner.

Brandon RCMP managed to intercept and pull the car over just west of Brandon, at the Highway 270 intersection.

That's where they arrested a 19-year-old Winnipeg man. He's since been released, but is to appear in Brandon court on Aug. 21, where he'll face several driving offences. He's also been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
