A car that was weaving in its lane at slow speed attracted officers' attention in Dauphin overnight during the weekend. Police say the driver turned out to be impaired.
Officers on patrol from the Dauphin municipal RCMP detachment spotted the car headed north on Main Street in Dauphin at around 1 a.m. on Sunday. After noting the suspicious driving, they pulled it over and found that the driver appeared impaired. He was arrested and taken to the detachment where breath tests showed a blood-alcohol concentration of more than .08.
Christopher Thomas Bird, 51, from the RM of Ethelbert, has been charged with impaired driving and is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Dauphin on Aug. 6.
