Expired tag betrays driver

A man whom police believe was impaired was pulled over because the validation tag on his pickup had expired.

Dauphin RCMP officers pulled over the pickup truck at about 5 p.m. on Sunday after noticing the expired stickers. That's when they noted that the driver showed signs of being impaired. He was arrested, but refused police demands to provide a breath sample.

A 27-year-old Winnipeg man is scheduled to appear in Dauphin provincial court on Aug. 28 to face charges of impaired driving and of refusing to provide a breath sample.
