It's a cold Monday out there.

Environment Canada is warning that exposed skin may suffer frostbite in less than 10 minutes this morning, as an Arctic airmass settles in over Manitoba.

With temperatures south of -30 C this morning, even light winds are enough to send the windchill plummetting to between -40 and -45.

Those extreme wind chills are expected to moderate by midday, but very cold temperatures are sticking around this afternoon and overnight.

Today's high will be just -24 C under sunny skies, but the mercury will drop to -30 C again tonight.

Temperatures will moderate slightly tomorrow, with a high of -18 C predicted for the afternoon with cloudy skies in the morning.

However, deep cold returns on Wednesday, with a high that day of -24 C and a low of -29 C.

Thursday could see some flurries, but temperatures will stay in the -20s for the rest of the week.

The normal high for this time of year is -12 C; the normal low is -22 C.
