February shoplifters arrested

Police made two arrests yesterday after tracking down separate suspects in a pair of shoplifting cases from last month.

The day before Valentine's Day, police say that someone made off with just under $90 worth of product from a business in the 800-block of 18th Street North. The theft was caught on video, however, and a suspect was identified.

A 29-year-old Brandon man was arrested yesterday and charged with theft under $5,000. He was to appear in court sometime today.

Officers also made a second arrest, related to a theft case from Feb. 28. On that day, employees of a business in the 1600-block of 18th Street said that someone had just swiped two items from them, worth a total of about $420. They were able to describe both the suspect and the vehicle he had left in.

Police spotted that vehicle yesterday in the 100-block of First Street.

A 36-year-old Brandon man was arrested and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000. He will appear in Brandon court at a later date.
