Traps scattered around Brandon caught just seven mosquitoes over two days this week — with many traps seeing no bloodsuckers at all.
The city says that the low numbers of mosquitoes will bring their annual abatement program to an end. They'll wrap up this week by larviciding the last pools of standing water left from last week's rainy weather.
Cool temperatures and few mosquitoes have taken the city's Adulticiding Factor Analysis too low to be calculated.
The final trap counts were down Sunday, Aug. 24 and Monday, Aug. 25. No mostquitoes at all were caught at any of the city's five traps on Sunday, although there was a bad catch at the cemetery trap.
On Monday, there were six mosquitoes caught at the city parks office, and one caught at the cemetery.
