Fight was consensual, but drinking was a no-no

Two men face charges after a drunken fight over the weekend — but it's not the fighting that got them in trouble.

Dauphin RCMP say they were called to the fight around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The pair were facing off in front of a home on Fourth Avenue SE in Dauphin but when officers arrived, they found that the fight had been consensual.

However, police say they were both intoxicated, and officers soon learned that both of the fighters were on probation and under court orders to abstain from alcohol.

Desi Ronald Nepinak, 25, of Ochre River, and Jason Matthew Chartrand, 27, of Dauphin, have each been charged with breach of probation. Both men were arrested and held in custody to appear in court today.
