Final cold day before great winter weekend

After one last day of deep freeze, Jack Frost will release his grip on the region just in time for the weekend.

Environment Canada is calling for a high of -21 C this afternoon, under sunny skies. A few clouds will come this evening, with an overnight low of -24 C.

But tomorrow will kick off a couple of days that will be just perfect for weekend activities.

Saturday's forecast is for a high of -10 C, though overcast.

After a moderate overnight low of -12 C, some sun will break through for Sunday, with a high of -7 C that afternoon.

Sun will stick around for the start of next week, with a high of -6 C on Monday.

Things will cool down a little later in the week. Clouds and a chance of flurries are predicted for Tuesday, with a high of -10 C. Wednesday and Thursday could see a return to temperatures in the -20s.

The normal high for this time of year is -11 C. The normal low is -22 C.
