Final warning for people who park in snow routes
Despite no-parking signs and a widespread plea by the city to move their vehicles, plenty of people aparently paid no attention.
Early-morning city crews attempting to plow downtown streets were stymied by a number of vehicles that stubbornly stayed where they were.
Plowing crews worked around them as best they could last night, but the city says a strict parking ban will be enforced tonight, and cars will be towed beginning at midnight.
The ban applies specifically to the 100-block of 10th Street and the zero-hundred block of Ninth Street.
The city says that people who park overnight on those blocks should find an alternate place to park to ensure their vehicles don't get towed. Parking will be allowed again at 8 a.m. tomorrow.
Removal of snow from other snow routes is expected to begin in the wee hours of Monday morning, and overnight parking bans will be in place for the duration of the work.
