Assiniboine Community College trade students will build a home for the newly re-created Brandon chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
ACC and the non-profit organization signed an agreement during a presentation at the school on Thursday morning.
The partnership was signed by ACC president Mark Frison, local Habitat chairman Rick Wells and Habitat for Humanity Manitoba CEO Sandy Hopkins.
Starting in the fall of 2014, students from the carpentry and woodworking program, plumbing program and electrical program will build the ready-to-move home, with the hope of having it ready in 2015.
The home will be built on the school’s campus and moved to a Percy Street lot.
This marks the first project since Habitat For Humanity was re-formed last year after the previous iteration folded — the first regional affiliate in the organization to do so.
