Four farm couples vie in Onanole to represent province

Who are Manitoba's most outstanding young farmers?

That question will be answered — for 2014 at least — at an Onanole banquet next month.

Four farm couples are finalists for the award, which will determine who will represent the province to be named Canada's Outstanding Young Farmer, which will be determined in November

For the last 35 years, the national program has striven to recognize farmers who exemplify excellence in their profession and promote the tremendous contribution of agriculture.

Participants must be between 18 and 39 years of age and earn the majority of their income from on-farm sources

The winner of the Manitoba competition will be revealed at banquet at the Elk Horn Resort in Onanole, on Feb. 8.

The finalists are

  • Yan Lafond (St Jean Baptiste)
  • Eric Gluck & Jodi Griffith (Lowe Farm)
  • Myron & Jill Krahn (Carman)
  • Paul & Kyla Devloo (Swan Lake)
