The Safeway Championship’s 2-vs.-2 Page playoff game will be a rematch of last year’s final.
Brandon’s Rob Fowler and former Brandonite Mike McEwen will go head-to-head tonight at 6:30 with the winner advancing to tomorrow’s semifinal and loser going home.
McEwen reached the final four by defeating Brandon’s Terry McNamee 8-1 in their B-side qualifier Saturday afternoon at Neepawa. Fowler stole five in the seventh end to beat Scott Ramsay, who’s from the Wheat City but curls out of Winnipeg, 10-4 in the other B-side qualifier.
This marks the end of the bonspiel for McNamee, who made the playoff round for the third straight year, and Ramsay, who made his first appearance in the final eight as a skip.
McEwen and Fowler met in a first-round playoff game last night. Fowler won that game 9-4 in seven ends.
Jeff Stoughton and Sean Grassie will play in the 1-vs.-1 Page playoff game at 6:30 p.m. The winner goes through to tomorrow’s final at 1:30 p.m. with the loser falling to the semifinal at 9 a.m.
The 1-vs.-1 Page game as well as the semifinal and final will be broadcast live on Sportsnet West and City TV Winnipeg.
