Fishers, untangle those lines: The province’s summer family fishing weekend gets underway Saturday.

Anglers will be allowed to fish without a licence province-wide and keep a conservation limit of fish, except in national parks where a federal licence is still required.

In addition, the entry fee for provincial parks is also waived this weekend.

The province has offered summer family fishing weekends since 1992.

To recognize the event, the Manitoba Wildlife Federation is hosting an amateur photo contest to promote fishing as a family activity.

Anglers can submit their fishing photos to info@mwf.mb.ca by June 16 for a chance to win a prize.
